If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you’ll realise that I love Instagram. It’s my own daily news feed where I discover hidden gems. One of those hidden gems happened to be Ballarat cafe, Vegas and Rose.
Vegas and Rose borrows its name from Las Vegas and The Rose of Australia Hotel in Sydney.
Situated on Humffray St North, a part of town that I never ventured to before finding Vegas and Rose, is a short strip of shops where locals pick up their coffee from owner Penthea Marshall-Radcliffe.
The cafe serves up Coffee Supreme coffee and locally made treats such as macarons, seasonal lunches and vegan cupcakes. They also sell vintage wares and ‘bits ‘n bobs’ such as crockery, vintage styled stationary and leather wallets. They also do a killer salted caramel/vanilla milkshake (my own combo as I am not a huge fan of caramel) and I’ve indulged in their macarons and cupcakes on many occasions.
On this visit with my friend Natalie from Melbourne, who also had found Vegas and Rose via Instagram, we ordered the mini cupcakes while I had a milkshake and Natalie tried the coffee syrup with soda water. I’m definitely trying the coffee syrup next time.
