It’s true. I’m in love with a doughnut.
Specifically, Doughboys Doughnuts. I first fell in love with these delectable (and ultimately no good for my waist, hips, thighs or butt) delights via my favourite social media medium, Instagram.
The guys at Doughboys create hand-forged doughnuts made with only the finest quality ingredients. No two doughnut is the same – and I can confirm that as I’ve tried the same doughnut more than once – and if you’re lucky to have your ‘doughie’ freshly dipped on demand then that’s just a bonus.
However, when I am in the city on those particular weekdays, I make a concerted effort to stop by and treat myself. I was rather surprised and embarrassed when the Doughboys lady (I haven’t yet asked her name, tsk!) remembered my name, but she assured me by adding, “Don’t worry, I have plenty more regulars than you.” Phew. So I’m not a doughie junkie – yet.
With doughnut creations such as The Double D, Maple Bacon, Blueberry Blaze, Earl Grey, Lime Toast, Salted Caramel, PBJ (Peanut Butter Jelly) and newest edition S’more plus many more flavours, Doughboys Doughnuts have created a niche market and a cult following.
Just by searching the hashtag #doughboysdoughnuts on Instagram you’ll find over 1,000 posts of these hand-forged treats.
But who am I to tell you that these are the best doughnuts in Melbourne, you’ll have to try them for yourself. Try one, try two. You’ll probably take some home to try again later too.
Oh, did I mention they served filtered coffee served in beautiful ceramic cups? The perfect addition to your own serve of #treatyoself.
